It was meant to be

Do you believe in coincidences or that things happen as they should? When three of us were on our hospital visit we were at the elevators ready to call it a wrap. A woman came up to me and asked if we could see her daughter. I asked which dog she would like to visit and she said “It has to be the little poodle,” thus Buddy!” The others left and I went to this person’s room with Buddy. As soon as we entered the door this person squealed and said “That’s Teddy’s mommy!” She recognized me from other places and had a very soft spot for my Teddy, who passed away several years ago. After all this time she remembered us and she was thrilled to meet Buddy, who she thought was a lot like Teddy. We had the most beautiful visit and stayed almost an hour. She remembered so many of our therapy dogs going back many years. I promised to visit again and went back today. Buddy took an immediate shine to her and it was as if they had known each other forever. He lay on his blanket very close to her while she petted him and looked deep into her eyes. This is why we do this – to bring a smile and comfort to someone and share the amazing human-animal bond. I can’t show you photos with the patient but here are Buddy and Teddy.
